Man arrested by Shorewood police after authorities say he attempted to enter a home here also has been charged in connection with a Milwaukee armed robbery.
An 18-year-old Milwaukee man arrested after authorities said he attempted to enter a Shorewood home is now facing charges following an armed robbery in Milwaukee. Maurice Devonte Hallom was charged Feb. 26 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of armed robbery. If convicted, he could face up to $100,000 in fines and/or 40 years imprisonment. According to the criminal complaint: On Feb. 19, a woman exited a bus near the intersection of North Downer Avenue and East Bradford Street in Milwaukee, when she fell down. Hallom ran over and asked her if she was injured; she replied that she wasn't. She gathered herself and began walking. Police arrested an 18-year-old Milwaukee man Friday afternoon after he opened the door to a Shorewood home, but was confronted by the resident at the entrance. According to a text alert by the department, the man opened the unlocked front door to a home in the 1600 block of East Menlo Boulevard around 2:20 p.m., but was confronted by the resident. With the suspect stopped at the door, he asked the resident if he could charge his cell phone and was told no. Once the resident closed and locked the door, the suspect began to peer into the windows, according to police. He was arrested for trespassing without incident. A 69-year-old Shorewood woman driving on a motorized scooter was ticketed Saturday, but not for speeding. A resident told police the woman was spotted driving the scooter in an alleyway behind a home in the 3800 block of North Bartlett Avenue. The woman stopped in the resident’s backyard, grabbed two flowerpots, jumped back on her scooter and took off. Police were able to track her down and retrieve the pots, and she was issued a citation for trespassing. Also in the police report:

Two years after the village removed fencing, it will consider replacing it after Lake Drive residents complained of trespassers onto their private beaches.
The Shorewood Village Board will consider whether to approve re-erecting a security fence along either side of Atwater Beach, to stop trespassers from entering privately-owned beaches, at its next meeting Monday, 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 3930 N. Murray Ave. After Shorewood's Park Commission approved removing the fence in 2009, citing a special interest group's concern that the ugly chain-linked fence ruined the beach, Lake Drive residents started complaining of trespassers. Residents said underage drinking, drug use, littering, broken glass and syringes, theft, unattended fires and vandalism were spilling onto their private land after the fence, deterring beach-goers from venturing pass the boundaries of Atwater Beach and onto private …
