The board will accept applications until July 10, and plans to interview candidates and chose a new trustee on July 24.
The Village Board plans to appoint a new trustee, after Don Ford resigned earlier this month, leaving his seat vacant. Trustees Tammy Bockhorst, Michael Maher and Thad Nation volunteered to head up an Ad-Hoc Committee to look at what options the board would like to pursue, and outline guidelines for the chosen process. The trustees recommended Monday night appointing a new member. The board approved utilizing a process used in recent years in which they solicited applications for the trustee seat, interviewed prospective trustee candidates, selected three candidates for further consideration and then held another vote to pick the new trustee. The trustees were sworn in Monday night after winning two seats on the Shorewood Village Board during the April 2 election.
Trustees Patrick Linnane and Tammy Bockhorst joined the Shorewood Village Board Monday night after being sworn in. The two won their seats on the board during the April 2 election. Bockhorst led the vote-getting with 1,767 votes (39 percent), and Linnane garnered 1,472 votes (32 percent), beating out candidate Paul Zovic who collected 1,300 votes (28 percent). Bockhorst and Linnane will serve three-year terms with a $1,000 annual salary.

Due to an unexpected relocation out of state related to his wife's career, Ford resigned from the Village Board May 1, after two years as trustee.
Trustee Don Ford has resigned from the Shorewood Village Board after an "unexpected relocation out of state.” Ford was elected to the board two years ago; his term expires next April. His resignation is effective May 1. Ford said his relocation is related to his wife’s career, in a letter to the board and village manager. Trustees said Monday he has relocated to the Minneapolis–Saint Paul, MN area. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience on the Village Board," he said in the letter. "It has been an honor to serve with such a thoughtful hardworking group of Trustees. I will miss all of you and this vibrant community." The Conservation Committee is ready to get Shorewood residents motivated about thinking green.
The Village's Conservation Committee is busy preparing for its largest spring event, aimed at getting people to clean out their houses and dispose of items in a responsible way. It's just one of the events the village has planned to make it easier for residents to be environmentally responsible. “We try to hit the season before people say, 'oh, shoot I should be composting,'” said Roy Anderson, chairman of the village's Conservation Committee. “Early spring, people are just starting to get itchy about getting outside.” The upcoming Conservation Fair & Green Clean Event is the committee’s last and largest spring event. “Last year we had 155 vehicles come with things to be processed,” said Anderson. “Motivation behind the fair is to get the…
