UWM Professor Tapped for Open School Board Seat

From a field of nine applicants, the Shorewood School Board selected Paru Shah, citing her knowledge of education public policy and research.

On a vote of 3-1, the Shorewood School Board selected Paru Shah from a field of nine candidates to fill its open seat. School Board members said they liked Shah’s knowledge of education public policy and her research of the impact of racial/ethnic inequalities on politics at the local level. The seat became available when Michael Mishlove resigned. Shah is an assistant professor in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Department of Political Science and was previously a political science professor at Macalester College in Minnesota. She has served on the board of directors for social services agency Rape Victims Advocates in Chicago and been a member and program director of AmeriCorps. Who's In the Running for the Open Shorewood School Board Seat?

Long-time member and former president Paul Zovic is among nine candidates who have thrown their names into the running for an open seat on the Shorewood School Board.

Former Shorewood School Board President Paul Zovic is among nine candidates to apply for the panel's open seat. Following the resignation of Michael Mishlove, the district began looking for a new board member. The applicants include: The board will conduct 20-minute interviews with each candidate in open session on Dec. 18 starting at 6 p.m., and pick one to become its fifth member Dec. 20.  The process will include a five-minute presentation from each candidate, followed by a five-minute follow-up question period from the board. Then the officials will spend 10 minutes asking two to three prepared interview questions.  The new member will serve on the School Board through April 2013, at which point they will have the opportunity to run …
