Another 26 UWM Students Picked Up over Weekend in Police Crackdown

After nabbing 25 in an initial crackdown near the campus Sept. 8, Milwaukee police continued its operation last weekend aimed at curtailing drunken and disorderly behavior from college students.

In the an ongoing police operation aimed at curbing loud partying near the campus, 26 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students, 40 people total, were arrested over the weekend. The majority of the arrests were for underage drinking. Others were taken into police custody for excessive noise, disorderly conduct, public drinking, obstruction of justice and vandalism. Milwaukee and UWM police launched the operation Sept. 8, in response to area resident complaints of drunken and disorderly behavior from college students, police say. Twenty-five students were arrested that weekend, 41 total. UWM Reminds Students to Behave, Respect Neighborhood This Weekend

After Milwaukee police arrested 39 in the area during a crackdown, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is reminding students to respect the neighborhood when having a good time this weekend.

After Milwaukee police arrested 39 in the area during a crackdown, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is reminding students to respect the neighborhood when having a good time this weekend. The university sent an email Thursday morning, informing students police will "continue intensive enforcement of quality of life issues and underage drinking laws in the UWM neighborhood." The email obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel goes on to say, "We want to encourage you to always be respectful, responsible individuals regardless of where you are." Milwaukee and UWM police launched the operation last weekend, in response to area resident complaints of drunken and disorderly behavior from college students, police say.

Police Report: Two Shorewood Teenagers Arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Alcohol

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Two 17-year-old Shorewood boys were arrested Saturday night after police found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, tobacco and alcohol in their car during a traffic stop. At about midnight, police noticed the teenagers driving without their headlights on in the 4000 block of North Wilson Drive, and eventually made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of East Kenmore Place. Police say they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car during the stop, and a search of the car revealed marijuana leafs on the floor and center console, a pipe with marijuana residue, blue prescription pill bottle containing pot, a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of Jim Beam.   In addition to the drug citations, the driver was cited for operating with a suspended…

Shorewood Police Busy with Drunken Driving Arrests Over Weekend

Two were arrested for drunken driving and one cited for underage drinking in incidents on North Oakland Avenue this weekend.

Along with one driver who was under the drinking age, Shorewood police made a few drunken driving arrests over the weekend. Late Saturday night, police pulled over a car in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue for speeding. After smelling alcohol coming from the inside of the car, the driver, a 20-year-old Shorewood man, was asked to perform a sobriety test and consent to a breathalyzer. While he came in under the legal limit with an .4 blood alcohol concentration, he was cited for underage drinking. Sunday, a 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after initially being pulled over by police for speeding. Police Report: Milwaukee Man Arrested for Drug Possession

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Police arrested a 23-year-old Milwaukee man Sunday after finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his car during a traffic stop.  When the man was pulled over in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue at 1:42 a.m. for speeding, police smelled pot in the car. The driver later admitted to having pot and a pipe in the car. Police confiscated about one gram of marijuana and a glass pipe. Also in the police reports:

Police Report: OWI, Car Gets Airborne during Accident

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

A 47-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Sunday after police say he was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a 16-year-old in the passenger seat. The man was initially stopped after police observed him traveling westbound in the 2600 block of East Capitol Drive with expired registration tags on his license plate. He smelled of alcohol, and had slurred speech when approached by an officer, according to the report. He would fail a sobriety test and had a .09 blood alcohol content. It is the man’s first drunken driving offense. Also in the police report:
