Lake Bluff to Get Playground Improvements over Summer

The approximately $500,000 project includes two softball fields and a youth soccer field.

Playground renovations at Lake Bluff Elementary will start July 5 and wrap up in early fall. The Shorewood School Board last week approved the approximately $493,000 project and a contract with New Berlin-based contractor, Western Contractors,  to revamp the school’s field. Western Contractors will install new fencing, construct two softball fields, one youth soccer field and do some minor electrical work for lighting. Superintendent Blane McCann said rainfall often leaves the fields usable and that the new construction will address the issue with a drainage system. McCann said the project will be great for Lake Bluff and the community. The Village Board agreed to pay a portion of the athletic field upgrades in March, contributing about $…

McCann will probably start a new high school parking lot project 5 days before school starts like he has the last several years. Oh, maybe he could make the entrance to the arena a little bit more difficult to get into.   more ›

State tournament season is upon us, beginning this week with track and field, golf and tennis. Monday's track regionals saw the typical strong performances from the Brookfield East, Brookfield Central and Hamilton, both on the boys and girls side. Tosa West's girls won the West Allis Hale regional and but they'll go up against the Brookfield/Hamilton contingent at Thursday's Waukesha North Sectional. Boys tennis teams are in subsectional and sectional play this week; Nicolet and Whitefish Bay should be favorites down in Greenfield and Patch will be there. University School starts the march to a sixth consecutive state title in the Brown Deer Sectional. Patch will have coverage of Wednesday's event. And golf teams get going with their …
