Families enjoyed games, trolley rides, ice cream, face painting, balloons, live music and even an appearance from the Milwaukee Brewers Racing Sausages.
Families enjoyed games, trolley rides, a Culver's ice cream sundae, face painting, balloons, live music and even an appearance from the Milwaukee Brewers Racing Sausages at the Shorewood Library's annual Summer Celebration Wednesday. The event is held each year as a thanks to the village for their support. The highlight of the event was the sausage race. After a drawing, five kids took on the sausages, racing them down North Murray Avenue.

The event starts in the library's public room, 3920 N. Murray Ave., at 6 p.m. Callier and Griffin have yet to confirm their attendance at the forum. (This story was updated Wednesday 4:24 p.m., to reflect Grassroots Shorewood is hosting the forum and not Grassroots Northshore).

Get thee to the library. Don't let the racing sausages beat you to your ice cream sundae at the Shorewood Public Library's annual Summer Celebration Wednesday at 6 p.m.

And sure, the kids can have fun, too. It is time for the annual Shorewood Public Library Summer Celebration. This year, the 14th annual free and family-friendly event is on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. So in order not to miss it (again), pause now and add to your calendar "Return Book Weds 6 p.m." We'll wait. So what is this all about, and why all the fuss? Big picture, Shorewood is that kind of place that has celebrations in summertime. This one is special because it highlights a central service that brings people of all walks of…

Ninth graders to senior citizens will read the same book this summer and fall, as the village kicks off its Shorewood Reads program. The award-winning novel Montana 1948 by Milwaukee author Larry Watson will be the focus of the first annual Shorewood Reads literary event this fall, Shorewood Village President Guy Johnson announced Monday. Johnson urged all village residents to read the book and participate in discussions and other activities related to the book. Johnson declared August through October to be Shorewood Reads months. Montana 1948, published in 1993, is the story of a family crisis as seen through the eyes of 12-year-old David Hayden. It is a coming-of-age story in that Hayden is forced to confront issues such as racism and …
