Police: Homeless Man Threatened to Blow Up Village Hall, Shorewood Apartments A 50-year-old homeless man was arrested Aug. 27 after threatening to blow up Village Hall and the River Park Apartments in Shorewood. The man — Shorewood police have indentified him as Thomas Yela — called an intervention center and then Milwaukee police and threatened to blow up the “Shorewood court” and an unknown assisted living facility at approximately 4:06 p.m., according to police. Democrat Sandy Pasch of Whitefish Bay beat out three other Democrats to win the primary and the seat on Tuesday.

Pasch Cleans Up in Shorewood with Nearly 96 Percent; Thompson Carries Local Vote

With voters only allowed to vote for candidates in one party in Tuesday's partisan primary, at least 65 percent of Shorewood voters chose to vote on the Democratic side.

State Rep. Sandy Pasch held a seat in the Assembly, in large part to how the residents of Shorewood voted in Tuesday’s partisan primary. She won Shorewood with nearly 96 percent of the vote over Democratic challengers Millie Coby of Shorewood, and Ieshuh Griffin and Harriet Callier of Milwaukee. According to unofficial results from Village Clerk Sherry Grant, Pasch garnered 2,060 votes, to Coby’s 79 votes, or roughly 3 percent. Griffin received 4 votes and Callier 5. Voter turnout on Tuesday was 32 percent. Over in the U.S. Senate Republican primary, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson led the way with 43 percent or 437 votes to businessman Eric Hovde’s nearly 29 percent or 292 votes in Shorewood. State Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald …

What You Need to Know Before Heading to the Polls

Tuesday is primary election day, and Patch has the information you need before you cast your ballot.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to choose the candidates they want to see run on the official ballot in November, as well as the winner of the 10th Assembly District seat. The Government Accountability Board is predicting a 20 percent turnout for the partisan primary. Here's the contested races on Tuesday's ballot. Primary Election Preview: Wisconsin State Assembly, 10th District

Rep. Sandy Pasch and community activists Millie Coby and Ieshuh Griffin will square off in a Democratic primary Tuesday. With no Republican in the race, the primary winner takes the seat.

With no Republican candidates on the 10th Assembly District ballot, Tuesday's Democratic primary is a winner-take-all contest. Rep. Sandy Pasch of Whitefish Bay, Millie Coby of Shorewood and Ieshuh Griffin of Milwaukee are Democrats competing for the open seat, which includes Shorewood, Riverwest and parts Milwaukee's central city. Candidate Harriet Callier has dropped out of the race, but her name will still appear on the ballot. The seat is currently held by Rep. Elizabeth Coggs of Milwaukee, but she vacating the seat to run for her cousin Spencer Coggs’ 6th Senate District seat. Harriet Callier Bows Out of 10th Assembly District Race

With less than a week before a Democratic primary, the candidate for state Legislature blasted candidate Rep. Sandy Pasch and said she will be supporting Shorewood resident Millie Coby in the race.

Sandy Pasch) Candidate in the race for the 10th Assembly District seat, Harriet Callier, said Tuesday, less than a week from a Democratic primary, she is bowing out and throwing her support to Shorewood resident Millie Coby. 10th Assembly District Candidates Preach Unity in Shorewood

More than 50 people attended the Grassroots Shorewood forum Monday at the library. The primary election is Aug. 14.

Candidates vying to represent the 10th Assembly District, newly drawn to include Shorewood with neighborhoods in Milwaukee's inner city, spoke passionately Monday night at the Shorewood Public Library about ways to address the needs of two demographically diverse places now politically bound together.
