Police say a group of men driving around the village in a bright blue 4-door Ford Focus with Michigan plates attempted to rob two people in seperate incidents.
Updated 5:26 p.m. Saturday with more details from Shorewood police. Greendale police got into a high-speed pursuit Friday night, and Menomonee Falls Saturday afternoon, with the vehicle police believe was used during two attempted robberies in Shorewood early Friday night. Both pursuits were terminated because they reached dangerously high speeds. The suspect driving the vehicle is also wanted for crimes in Milwaukee and Menomonee Falls. The vehicle is a bright blue 4-door Ford Focus with Michigan plates CMA1180; not Ohio plates as originally reported by police. An employee at One-Hour Martinizing says a man implied he was carrying a firearm and told her, "It's the money or your life."
Police are investigating an apparent armed robbery at Martinizing Dry Cleaners Tuesday evening. An employee told police around 6:48 p.m. a man entered through an unlocked rear door to the dry cleaner at 3596 N. Oakland Ave. She saw him enter the business; run behind her with his hand in his pocket — implying he had a firearm — and demanded cash, according to the report. “It’s the money or your life,” the suspect told the employee, according to the police report. She told police she could feel an object pointed in her back, but couldn’t determine whether it was a gun. The man — described as a black male with dreadlocks, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches, dressed in all black — made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with the robbery, but no charges have been filed yet.
Two 18-year-old men from Whitefish Bay were robbed by five males early Sunday morning in the 5000 block of Marlborough Drive. One of the robbery victims called the police shortly after the incident at 12:42 a.m. Sunday. He told police the robbers, who were approximately 16 years old, forcibly stole two wallets and an iPhone then fled the scene in a beige Dodge Stratus. The vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, was gone by the time police arrived. After the robbery in Whitefish Bay Sunday, the Milwaukee Police Department later apprehended three juveniles and linked the suspects to the robbery in Whitefish Bay. Milwaukee man, 18, faces 15 years in prison after he and others allegedly robbed a pizza delivery driver in Shorewood on Aug. 6.
An 18-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he and several others allegedly jumped a pizza delivery driver in Shorewood and stole his car, cell phone and wallet. Myron D. Whitmore was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday with one count of robbery with use of force. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and $50,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 12:38 a.m. Aug. 6, a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver pulled up to a home in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue and parked in front of a Chevrolet Impala, then went and delivered a pizza. Police say a man pushed a Shorewood woman to the ground in the rear of an East Capitol Drive apartment building July 25, before demanding she hand over money.
A Shorewood woman says a man pushed her to the ground before demanding money in an attempted strong-arm robbery July 25. According to the police report, at 8:30 p.m., the victim was in the rear of an apartment building in the 1300 block of East Capitol Drive when the man approached her, pushed her to the ground and demanded she give him money. The robber ended up fleeing the scene without any money. The victim sustained minor injuries to her hands, forearms and face.

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.
A 19-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to rob a man in the 4000 block of Oakland Avenue at 1 a.m. Friday. According to police, the robber asked the victim if he had a gun. After the victim said he did not have a gun, the robber said "I do" and proceeded with the crime, police said. The targeted victim, however, kept on walking and the robber ended up with nothing. Police found the alleged robber in a nearby alley a short time later. He had a knife, rather than a gun, according to police. He faces robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting an officer charges. Also in the police reports:

The victim told police a suspect stuck a hard object in his back and told him to empty his pockets Sunday night.
A University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student was robbed while walking in the 3500 block of North Murray Avenue Sunday night, police say. The student told police he was walking to a friend's house from the college campus at about 8:40 p.m. when an unknown suspect approached him, stuck a hard object in his back, implying there was a firearm, and told him to empty his pockets. The student handed over his property and continued walking north on Murray Avenue, following the robber's orders to not turn around. Police wouldn't release information on the property taken in the robbery, because it's an ongoing investigation.

Police say a man was robbed near the intersection of North Wilson Drive and North Alpine Avenue Monday night.
A Shorewood pedestrian says a man put an object to his head and demanded money in a robbery Monday night near the intersection of North Wilson Drive and North Alpine Avenue. According to police, the victim was approached by the suspect at 9:40 p.m. while walking in the area and asked for a light. After replying he didn't have one, the pederstrian continued walking. The suspect then approached the victim again, put a hard object to the back of his head and said, "Give me your money, take our your wallet." The victim told police he's not sure if the object was a gun or an other weapon. The suspect stole $53 in cash from the wallet and then fled on foot. A police investigation is ongoing.

Police chief attributes decrease to residents and officers.
Halfway through 2011, crime in Shorewood has waned 19 percent, compared to last year, according to data released by Shorewood police this week. Shorewood police compared crime statistics spanning from January to June, with last year's same period. There were 202 crimes reported during those six months last year with 164 thus far this year. Over seven categories of crime, all except for car theft and rape decreased, though only one rape was reported this year, and three car thefts each year. Shorewood Police Chief David Banaszynski attributed the decrease to resident support and officers' hard work.
