Roman Candle Pizza Coming to North Shore

The Madison-based pizza company has pegged Silver Spring Drive for its foray into the Milwaukee market.

After seven years of building The Roman Candle Pizzeria in Madison, Brewer Stouffer chose to make his foray into the Milwaukee pizza market via Whitefish Bay. First launched in Madison in 2005, The Roman Candle expanded to Middleton in 2007 and Fitchburg in 2010. By September, the company hopes to be serving East-Coast style pizza in a 3,000-square-foot vacancy in the east end of the former Honquest Furniture building at 133 E. Silver Spring Drive. Of all the neighborhoods in and around Milwaukee, Stouffer said he was attracted to Whitefish Bay because he saw a need for a neighborhood pizza place. "Whitefish Bay is a nice demographic mix, because it is family-oriented and there is an emphasis on neighborhoods, an emphasis on walking and …

Al Calderone Pizza Opening About A Week Out

The Fazzari family hopes to open its third Milwaukee area pizza restaurant in Shorewood, offering takeout and delivery.

In about seven to 10 days, owner Carmelo Fazzari said he will be ready to open Al Calderone Club in Shorewood.  The pizza restaurant opening at 4475 N. Oakland Ave. will primarily fill takeout orders, but will also offer delivery. There will be a handful of barstools in the front of the restaurant for those interested in just ordering a slice. Fazzari plans to offer whole wheat and gluten-free options.  The restaurant is named for Fazzari's dad, who passed away in September. He opened his first location under the same name in the 1970s near Bartlett Avenue and Bradford Avenue.  “I just look forward to coming back to the eastside and Shorewood area where we started in the 70’s,” Fazzari said in October, when he announced plans to open in …

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza: New Pizzeria Coming to Shorewood, Salvatore's Closing Doors

Two brothers hope to open their new pizza shop, Falbo Bros. Pizzeria, Oct. 1 in place of Salvatore's.

After just 16 months, Salvatore’s is closing its doors. But, that doesn’t mean residents will loss a local place to get their pizza pie fix. Brothers Ted and Sam Speerschneider plan to open Falbo Bros. Pizzeria by Oct. 1, serving up thin, deep-dish and Chicago-style stuffed crust pizza, salads, flatbread sandwiches and deserts. The Speerschneiders plan to take some of Salvatore’s pasta recipes and tweak them a bit. The store will also offer beer and wine. The Madison-based pizza chain has six restaurants in the state, five in Iowa and one in Colorado. Ted has owned a franchised Falbo Bros. in Middleton, Wis for eight years, and said he's bringing Sam into the pizza business with the Shorewood location. Ted said his family is from Whitefish…

I could not have cared less about Salvatore's decor, since I always carried out. But I did love their pizza and was sad to hear that they closed. They were definitely the best pizza in Shorewood, and only third to Lisa's and Zaffiro's. Let's hope that Falbo's can match the greatness that was Salvatore's.   more ›
