The "openly black" congresswoman talked politics and pretended to ride motorcycles with the comedic talk show host Wednesday night.
U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore is the latest politician to take a political risk and appear on The Colbert Report with comedian Stephen Colbert. If you're not familiar with the show, Colbert takes on the role of an exaggerated right-wing talk show host. In his "Better Know a District" segment, he has poked fun at about 80 U.S. representatives, with the ambitious goal of reaching all 435 congressional districts. Moore represents Wisconsin's 4th Congressional District, which recently expanded to include Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point, Glendale and Bayside. On last night's show, Colbert asked Moore to expand on her thoughts about Rep. Paul Ryan's budget, which she has said favors the rich. Moore said America should be more akin to a family, in …

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, former running mate of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says that with the election behind him, he's happy to "get back to work" and fight for what he believes in.
Despite taking his lumps in the November election, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan said Tuesday that he has a "moral obligation" to continue fighting for what he believes in. "What do you do when you get knocked down?" he asked "You get back up. You pick yourself up, and go back and fight for what you think is right, what you believe in." Speaking at a town hall meeting in Oak Creek, the former Republican vice presidential candidate joked about the outcome of the race. "Let's just say the election didn't go the way I wanted it to go," he told the crowd of about 180. Still, Ryan said, he will continue to push for immigration reform, a revamp of the tax system, energy legislation and more. In an interview with Patch after the 90-minute listening session…

On "Meet the Press," Wisconsin congressman and former Republican vice presidential candidate says Hillary Clinton would have done better job with economy than Obama has.
In his first live television interview since the November election, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan Sunday blasted President Barack Obama for his handling of the economy and said the nation would be in better financial shape if Hillary Clinton were president. Speaking on NBC's "Meet the Press," the former Republican vice presidential candidate said "we would have fixed this fiscal mess by now" if Clinton had been president, The Huffington Post reported. Clinton, who is secretary of state, ran unsuccessfully against Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary. Clinton is considered the strongest potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2016, however, she has not indicated whether she would make another run for the nation's highest office. In Sunday's …

Addressing the Racine Tea Party at a forum on health care, Rep. Paul Ryan, State Rep. Robin Vos and State Sen. Leah Vukmir told the crowd in Racine County on Sunday it's time for them to take action if they want to see the Affordable Care Act repealed.
Expressing their disdain for the Affordable Health Care Act, Rep. Paul Ryan and other state Republicans Sunday evangelized their anti-Obamacare message and asked the Racine Tea Party faithful to go out and spread the message that it isn’t working. One by one, notable Republicans got up in front of the roughly 300 people gathered at the Racine Tea Party Healthcare Forum at South Hills Country Club in Caledonia. In turn, they each dissected the health-care law and said how the American people made a decision in November they may come to regret. Headlining speaker Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Janesville, called the law “fundamentally flawed” in its conception and implementation, and said it is doomed to fail. “Obamacare is too overarching and it runs …

None of the U.S. elected officials from Wisconsin particularly cared for the deal hammered out to avoid the "fiscal cliff" — and that includes those who voted for it.
The "fiscal cliff" was averted Tuesday when the U.S. House handily passed a bill approved a day earlier in the U.S. Senate that raised taxes on the wealthy and staved off a tax increase for the middle-class. The bill passed 257-167 in the House, a comfortable 40 votes more than what was needed to become law. Among the congressmen serving southeastern Wisconsin, U.S. Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI 5th District) and Tom Petri (R-WI 6th District) voted "no" on the measure, while U.S. Reps. Paul Ryan (R- WI 1st District) and Gwen Moore (D- WI 4th District) cast "yes" votes. U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI 7th District), who now serves the Hudson area, voted no. The U.S. Senate passed the bill 89-8 on Monday with Republican Ron Johnson and Democrat …

President Barack Obama, on his way to re-election win's Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes after defeating former Gov. Mitt Romney Tuesday.
President Barack Obama has won Wisconsin, considered by political pundits as a major swing state that would go a long way in deciding the 2012 presidential election. Obama was declared the state’s projected winner over Gov. Mitt Romney. Obama and running mate Joe Biden overcame the popularity uptick Romney undoubtedly received when he announced Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan of Janesville as his vice presidential candidate this summer. With the victory, Obama picked up 10 important electoral votes toward the 270 required to win the presidency. At approximately 10:15 p.m., CNN declared Obama a winner in Ohio, essentially giving him the election. As of 1 a.m. Wednesday, with 91 percent of the vote counted in Wisconsin, Obama was leading …

Paul Ryan visited Memorial Hall in Racine Wednesday as part of a GOP victory rally tour.
Vice presidential candidate and 1st District congressman Paul Ryan visited Memorial Hall in Racine Wednesday to boost the energy and momentum of local conservatives. And like at past rallies - including the Rally for Jobs hosted by the Racine Tea Party on Saturday - residents were encouraged to vote early absentee so that on election day, they can help ferry voters to the polls. Leaders also took a page traditionally in the Democrats' wheelhouse by telling supporters to make phone calls, knock on doors, and talk to everyone they come in contact with about why the Romney-Ryan…

Friends who work at the House say Moore is one of a few House Members that are laughed at. She is BEYOND incompetent and has not clue what she is doing most of time. I think it is HILARIOUS that the people of Shorewood allow her to represent them. Is there not ANY other flaming libtard that could take her place (not that I am endorsing someone who might actually DO something; I am fine with her …   more ›
