The two companies have joined forces to urge Congress to “Come Together” before tax hikes and spending cuts push America over the “fiscal cliff.”
On any given day, Shorewood and Washington, D.C., might seem like they’re a million miles apart. Today is not one of those days. As Congress and President Barack Obama attempt to hash out differences to stop America from falling over the “Fiscal Cliff,” Patch and Starbucks are teaming up to urge Republicans and Democrats to “come together.” The two companies are working together to make sure Congress gets the message America wants a viable solution to the country’s financial woes. In Shorewood, Starbucks is located at 4107 N. Oakland Ave. The so-called Fiscal Cliff encompasses all of the budget cuts and tax hikes that will automatically kick in if Congress doesn’t take action before Jan. 1, 2013. Some economists say the automatic changes …

From 5 to 7 p.m. every Thursday, I will be holding office hours in the library to get your feedback, or teach you how to expand your presence on the Internet.
In the era of electronic communication, the art of face-to-face communication is sometimes lost. As a web-based news source, we utilize Facebook and Twitter quite a bit. However, even though I spend most of my work days sipping coffee and fraternizing with the locals at Alterra or Stone Creek, I felt it was time to make myself available in person on a regular basis. So, from 5 to 7 p.m. every Thursday I will be holding "office hours" in one of the study rooms at the Shorewood Public Library. If the room is full we will definitely find a place to chat. I hope Patch readers, and those new to Patch, will stop by and let me know how I am doing serving the community. Got comments, complaints or kudos? I want to hear them. Have a big story for …

It's coming up on the one-year anniversary of Sara's big move from the city to the Shoreline. Here's her gift to her new love.
My one-year anniversary is fast approaching with my current boyfriend, the Shoreline! Tradition states the proper gift to give for this very mushy occasion is one of the paper variety. Since Patch has revamped the conventional local newspaper into one of the virtual kind, I thought it was appropriate to deliver an e-love letter of sorts with a Late Night twist. Thus, ladies and gentlemen I present to you tonight's Top Ten Reasons Sara + The Shoreline = True Love Forever... No. 10 — My need for excessive shoe shopping has all but ceased. I found I only need one of two styles of footwear to fit into any Shoreline social situation. The footwear of choice? Designer stilettos or Birkenstocks. Grocery shopping? Both fit the bill! Out for drinks…

Patch teams up with Stone Creek Coffee on donation drive for soldiers overseas...but we need your help.
Join Patch and Stone Creek Coffee as we do our part to support American soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. Doing your part is easy and it involves — a free latte. Starting Tuesday, find an item on this list, like a tube of toothpaste, calling card or football, head to Stone Creek Coffee in Shorewood, 4106 N. Oakland Ave., or Whitefish Bay, 601 E. Silver Spring Dr., and hand it to the baristas. They'll brew you up a Stone Creek latte...for free. And we'll send your donation to a soldier stationed in Afghanistan. So Starbuck's contribution to the effort consists of writing "Come Together" on coffee cups and...what else? As for Patch, from the page linked to above... ********************** Let’s tell Congress to work together to fix the debt and avoid the fiscal cliff. Why? What is the fiscal cliff and why does it matter to me? Our spending needs on critical programs are increasing: Our obligations to …   more ›
