High school co-op team accepts players from all along the North Shore

Interested players are invited to join "Fall Ball" practices for the Lakeshore Lacrosse boys high school team beginning Sunday at the Shorewood High School athletic field. New players are invited, but everyone must have their own equipment, mouthguard and protective cup. Players without a mouthguard may not participate. Lakeshore Lacrosse is a co-op team that includes players from all North Shore schools, including Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Nicolet and on up through Ozaukee County. Practices are 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Sunday through Oct. 23. For more information, call 414-704-8424 or e-mail Tom Gough.

The Lakeshore Lacrosse team lost to Middleton 14-8 on Thursday in the second round of the state high school playoffs. Lakeshore is a co-op team comprised of players from Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Nicolet, Port Washington and other North Shore schools. Lakeshore started strong with two quick goals by junior Anders Bjella, but Middleton's fast and physical transition game put the Cardinals ahead at halftime, 7-4. Senior midfielder Collin Braam had four goals and an assist and sophomore centerman Dakota Kwasny scored off an assist from Bjella. The Lakeshore Lacrosse team easily handled Kenosha 13-1 in their first game of the state tournament playoffs on Tuesday at Shorewood High School. Anders Bjella and Dante Giacobassi led all scorers with four and three goals, respectively. Kenosha was unable to get past Lakeshore's strong defense and only managed four shots on goal in the first half. Goalie Quinn Mooney was able to stop every Kenosha opportunity until late in the fourth quarter. Coach Tom Gough was pleased with his team's performance during their first playoff test. "The team continues to show great progress on ball movement on offense and solid play on defense," Gough said. Collin Braam adds six goals to impressive season tally in 13-6 triumph over Mukwonago

Senior co-captain Collin Braam scored six goals as Lakeshore Lacrosse defeated Mukwonago 13-6 on Tuesday. This is the third consecutive game Braam scored at least five goals for the Lakeshore squad, which is comprised of players from all along the North Shore. Will Tucker and Dante Giacobassi both scored two goals from their attack positions, with beautiful assists from Anders Bjella and Dakota Kwasny, respectively. Centerman Kwasny also put in an unassisted goal after winning a faceoff. Center Nick Yakel had four goals to lead Mukwonago. Lakeshore is 4-2. The team's next game is 7:30 p.m. Friday against Kettle Moraine at Nicolet High School.
