Got Milk? Shorewood School Officials Say 'Yes,' Despite Dairy Closing

Golden Guernsey in Waukesha closed without warning on Saturday, raising concern about the ability of school districts to obtain milk for students.

Shorewood students will continue to receive milk this week, despite the abrupt closing of a Waukesha milk processing plant. Following the news over the weekend that Golden Guernsey's factory had abruptly shut down, concern was raised about the ability of school districts to obtain milk for students.  However, schools in Shorewood will not be affected. Business Manager Mark Boehlke confirmed Monday the district will have no problem stocking milk.  Officials at several other school districts in the Milwaukee area say they don't envision problems with having milk for their students. Some school districts, like Waukesha, Greenfield and Elmbrook, had to make some changes to ensure their students would continue to receive milk this week.  Other …
