Shorewood Police Busy with Drunken Driving Arrests Over Weekend

Two were arrested for drunken driving and one cited for underage drinking in incidents on North Oakland Avenue this weekend.

Along with one driver who was under the drinking age, Shorewood police made a few drunken driving arrests over the weekend. Late Saturday night, police pulled over a car in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue for speeding. After smelling alcohol coming from the inside of the car, the driver, a 20-year-old Shorewood man, was asked to perform a sobriety test and consent to a breathalyzer. While he came in under the legal limit with an .4 blood alcohol concentration, he was cited for underage drinking. Sunday, a 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after initially being pulled over by police for speeding. Police Report: Daycare Office Burglarized; Drunken Driver Crashes into Light Poles on Capitol Drive

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

The Milestones program is out $700 after the Shorewood daycare program’s main office inside St. Robert school was burglarized sometime over the weekend. Police say doors to the closed and locked school and program office at 2214 E. Capitol Dr. were entered but showed no signs of forced entry. However, a safe inside the office was forcibly entered. Police Report: Police Make Drunken Driving Arrest Friday

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Police arrested a 24-year-old Shorewood man for operating while intoxicated just before midnight Friday after making a traffic stop for speeding. The man, pulled over in the 3700 block of North Lake Drive, smelled of alcohol and slurred his speech when an officer approached him, according to the report. He failed a sobriety test, and refused a breathalyzer test on the scene. It is the man’s first such offense. Also in the police report:

Police Report: OWI, Car Gets Airborne during Accident

A 47-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Sunday after police say he was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a 16-year-old in the passenger seat. The man was initially stopped after police observed him traveling westbound in the 2600 block of East Capitol Drive with expired registration tags on his license plate. He smelled of alcohol, and had slurred speech when approached by an officer, according to the report. He would fail a sobriety test and had a .09 blood alcohol content. Police Report: Drunken Driving; Theft From Car; Stolen Bicycle

A 41-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for operating while intoxicated early Monday morning, after someone called phoned because he was blocking a driveway in the 3900 block of North Frederick Avenue as he dropped off a friend. Police ended up pulling him over in the 1800 block of East Capitol Drive. He had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled like alcohol, according to the report. He failed a sobriety test and had a 0.15 blood alcohol content police say. It was the man’s first drunken driving offense. Shorewood, Whitefish Bay Men Arrested for Drunken Driving after Car Accidents

A 53-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for his second OWI after crashing into a parked truck.

After crashing his red Volkswagen into a parked truck in the 3700 block of North Morris Boulevard Tuesday, a 53-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, his second such offense. Police say the man was slurring his speech and smelled of alcohol when they arrived on scene.  Witnesses told police the man was driving without headlights and swerving over the median. Police are still waiting on results of a blood test to determine the man’s blood alcohol content. Sunday, police followed a trail of tire pieces to a 39-year-old Whitefish Bay man on the side of the Estabrook Parkway, in a Mazda mini-van, short a tire. Shorewood Police Arrest Two for Drunken Driving

One motorist was Tennessee woman whose blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit.

Shorewood police arrested two for drunken driving late last week. On Thursday, police followed a 57-year-old Tennessee woman as she swerved her way through the village. Police say the woman was all over the road, crossing over the median and signaling for left turns when there wasn’t an option to make the turn. Police say she smelled of alcohol and slurred her speech when they pulled her over in the 200 block of East Hampton Avenue. She couldn’t stand up without leaning on a car, failed a sobriety test with a 0.32 blood alcohol content - four times the legal limit - and was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
