Dog Incident Victim Lied to Police About How it Happened

Shorewood police say a Shorewood woman who was mauled on Milwaukee's east side — not here as originally believed — has been released from the hospital after treatment. She also lied to police about how the incident unfolded.

A 31-year-old Shorewood woman who was mauled by a dog late Thursday afternoon has been released from a local hospital, according to police. But her original story — that the dog was loose and unfamiliar — has been shown to be false. According to Milwaukee police, the woman was a professional dog walker, walking the dog in question on Milwaukee's east side at East Locust Street and Shepard Avenue. The dog became startled and bit the woman, causing her injuries. She told medical personnel at the hospital where she sought treatment that she was bit by a dog in Shorewood, to protect the canine from being put down.
