Obituary: Roger James Killelea, Teacher for More Than 25 Years

Killelea, a dedicated teacher for more than two decades, and a longtime Shorewood resident, passed away April 17 at the age of 70.

Roger James Killelea of Shorewood passed away April 17 at the age of 70. Killelea was born on April 7, 1943 in Oak Park, IL to Roger E. and Anna Marie “Nancy” (Yorgan) Killelea, and moved to Racine in 1956. He was a graduate (1961) of St. Catherine’s High School in Racine and UW–Whitewater. Killelea served in the US Army Reserves for 30 years, rising to the rank of First Sergeant. He was a dedicated teacher for over 25 years, and then found a second career as a chemist at Aldrich Chemical Co. Killelea will always be remembered as a warm and loving man. His faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was the center of his life. His life showed his love for his family. He was always first to offer help and could be counted on for any favor, no matter how…

Longtime Shorewood resident Myron W. Genthe passed away April 10 at the age of 89.  Beloved husband of Winifred Genthe (nee MacRae). Loving father of James (Marcia) Genthe, Jean (John) O’Leary, Sheila Genthe, and Meredith (Dave) Weber.  Proud grandfather of Jennifer, Erin, Lauren, Katie, Allison, Elizabeth and Hannah. Obituary: Rochelle Shavers

The longtime resident of Shorewood brought joy to the lives of all she met. She passed away Monday at the age of 66.

Rochelle Shavers passed away Monday at the age of 66. A resident of Shorewood since 1972, Shavers was a lovely woman who brought joy to the lives of all she met. She will be missed by her adoring husband, Maxwell N. Shavers, Jr., her children, Renée Rochelle Shavers, James Barclay Shavers, Janeen Marie Shavers and Maxwell Nathanial Shavers IV and her grandchildren, Chelsea Morgan Crawford, Audrey Rose Crawford and Jessica Marie Crawford. Shavers was an only child but died with many loving “sisters & brothers” too numerous to name. Visitation will be held at the Feerick Funeral Home on April 8 from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorials appreciated to the family for the funeral services. Peter Edwin "Big Pete" Veldboom passed away unexpectedly on Friday at the age of 46.  Before Onstar, there was Veldboom...just a call away for those in need of direction. Bullis, an avid bridge player who enjoyed traveling the world, attended Shorewood High School. She passed away peacefully Saturday in Miami, FL at the age of 88.

Lois May Fischer Bullis passed away peacefully Saturday in Miami, FL. She was 88.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was born on December 12, 1924, the only child of Edgar Theodore Fischer and Ruth Dammann Fischer. She attended Shorewood High School and Wisconsin State Teachers College. Together with her dear, late husband Harvey Raymond Bullis, Jr. she was involved with Bullis Bromeliads nursery in Princeton, Florida and enjoyed traveling the world. She was a dedicated member of Christ Lutheran Church of Pascagoula, Mississippi and a former member of Luther Memorial Chapel in Shorewood. The longtime Shorewood resident was devoted to St. Robert’s Parish and enjoyed playing golf, bridge and following Marquette athletic and the Green Bay Packers. She passed away Thursday at the age of 70.

Mary Ann Mathews passed away Thursday at the age of 70. Mathews graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, MN and Marquette University. A longtime resident of Shorewood, she was devoted to St. Robert’s Parish and St. Vincent de Paul Meal Program. Mathews was a lover of life, enjoying golf, bridge, Marquette athletics and the Green Bay Packers. She always cared about the needs of others before her own. Most of all she was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother, never missing a sporting event or activity. She was always the life of the party and will be dearly missed and never forgotten. The retired United States Navy captain and former resident of Shorewood passed away Saturday at the age of 83.

Chong Sum Fong passed away Saturday at the age of 83. Fong was a retired United States Navy captain and former resident of Shorewood.  Beloved husband of Dr. Mary Quinn. Loving father of Patrick Fong and Stephen Fong. Further survived by other relatives and good friends. Services are pending. Remembering Roy 'Doc' Genskow, Former Shorewood Educator

Affectionately known by his students as "Doc," the former Shorewood biology and chemistry teacher of 22 years passed away Feb. 5 at the age of 86.

Affectionately known by his students as “Doc,” Roy Donald Genskow was a welcoming face in the halls and sports arenas of Shorewood High School for more than two decades.  A Shorewood High School biology, advanced biology, and chemistry teacher from 1969 to 1991, Genskow also coached football and wrestling at the school. He would also plan many field trips, canoe adventures and volunteer opportunities to give students an experience outside the classroom. He passed away Feb. 5 in Eau Claire. He was 86.  A 1944 graduate of Shorewood High School himself, Genskow was named all-conference guard his senior year. He attended Marquette University on a football scholarship before serving in the Pacific in the 24th Infantry Division during WWII and …

Grohmann was longtime resident of Shorewood, and founder of the LeBecFin Cooking School and one of the original owners of Wisconsin Wilderness Foods.

Carol E. Grohmann passed away Friday at the age of 86.  Grohmann was longtime resident of Shorewood, and founder of the LeBecFin Cooking School and one of the original owners of Wisconsin Wilderness Foods.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking up a storm. She had a true love for her family, she loved gathering everyone together for the holidays and was able to make any day a special occasion.
