Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 06:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

The fact that this kid is 19 and he finishes his 1st Full/Real Triathalon in 11 hours & 45Read More minutes is actually pretty amazing. The top 3 men's pro finishers in the 2012 Ironman Triathalon in Hawaii ranged in age from ~31-37years old and finished in just over 8 hours. Additionally, these Pros have years of experience as well as numerous Triathalons under their belts. Good luck.

Steve, This maybe the first time that we agree on something. Thank you
SaB July 24, 2013 at 04:16 pm
Steve, et al... Please find a dictionary; maybe you need to go to a library to find one. Look upRead More "speculate", versus "accuse". Let me know that you Learn of the difference. Don't read your own impulse- opinions into my inquisitive-intended comments. b.t.w. I am a serious fan of Aaron Rogers. I am so looking forward to the new season. You had me wrong perhaps.
CowDung July 24, 2013 at 04:23 pm
"This would pass the label of liar onto Aaron as well; therefore is an integrity issue atRead More minimum (for Mr. Rogers)." Sounds like a bit more than 'speculation'.

Coach Gem is a class act.

So sad! He's a wonderful social studies teacher--a real loss to our district. Wishing him the bestRead More in the future!
Jeff Rumage July 20, 2013 at 10:28 am
Just to clarify, he is only stepping down from the coaching position - not his teaching position atRead More SIS.

Looks pretty basic and clean. I like it.

Francis did a great job for SLL, from start to finish. His design was a strong contender, right fromRead More the beginning and through several revisions. Watching the voting process, it was clear that people had strong positive responses to his work. On behalf of Shorewood Little League, we are very pleased with the end result. Thanks to Jeff Zimpel for helping to facilitate this project for Little League and your SHS graphic art students. Thanks to all SHS students who submitted work to SLL for consideration. There were many wonderful pieces we had to choose from. We are grateful for all the artistic talent this community has to offer.
The boys 1,600-meter relay took home the state title Saturday. The Shorewood High track team collectively won the Division II team title, as well.
Deb Dennis June 4, 2013 at 07:57 am
Please check the stats from 2012. The Shorewood 4x400 relay team, not Arcadia, broke the stateRead More record last year, too.
Carl Engelking June 4, 2013 at 09:49 am
Indeed, Shorewood was the 2012 State Champion, and set a time of 3:22.41. But state record, set inRead More 2006 by Arcadia, was 3:21.67. That's according to the WIAA official program for the state meet.

Go Greyhounds! I like seeing the list of sporting events for the week--hopefully this will help getRead More people to come out and support our young athletes.
CowDung March 27, 2013 at 12:22 pm
Maybe now Shorewood can create a student athlete hall of fame...
The Donny Show March 27, 2013 at 01:33 pm
But they need to make sure there is NO mention of a cross or having being from Messmer. Carson wasRead More a top 20 BB recruit when he was in 8th grade. He was an absolute BEAST in grade school and is only the second person to be named All Tournament TWICE in the Padre Serra.
The Donny Show January 31, 2013 at 07:08 pm
Congrats! Seems like the success of the team now (as it was in the mid to late 90s when I was atRead More SHS) is dependent on the quality of the kids NOT from Shorewood.
CowDung February 1, 2013 at 07:14 pm
Shorewood in general seems pretty reluctant to take sports seriously. They don't want to encourageRead More anything that might take kids away from the beloved orchestra program...
