The Shorewood School District is the public schools administration for the Village of Shorewood. District enrollment for winter 2010 was 2050 students, including about 300 who live outside Shorewood and attend through the Open Enrollment and Chapter 220 programs. The District comprises Atwater and Lake Bluff elementary schools (K-6), Shorewood Intermediate School (7-8), and Shorewood High School (9-12). The high school also houses New Horizons Charter School, an alternative high school program for students who have significant problems succeeding in the mainstream school environment. Shorewood supports a cost-per-student rate that is in the highest 2 percent in the state.
