Surfs Up at Atwater Beach This Weekend

Surf @Water – the first surf event of its kind in the area – will coast into Atwater Beach Saturday.

A group of local surfers have organized an event that aims to introduce people to surfing and surfing culture on Saturday.

The event, called Surf @Water, is the first-ever surf event of its kind in the area, inviting local residents and regional surfers to Atwater Beach for a film festival featuring five Great Lakes surfing films produced in the Midwest.

Activities at Surf @Water range from a sunrise opening ceremony and beach clean up, to the main event beginning at 5 p.m. featuring surf lessons, information on water safety as well as fun instructions on surfing technique, etiquette and the history of surfing the Great Lakes. Festivities conclude with a Surf Camp AfterParty at Camp Bar.
