Shorewood Snapshot: Assembly Race Candidate Forum; Celtic, Irish Music in Hubbard Park

— , Millie Coby of Shorewood, Ieshuh Griffin of Milwaukee and Harriet Callier of Milwaukee are Democrats vying for the 10th Assembly District seat.

Monday will mark almost two weeks until the four square off in a Democratic Primary Aug. 14, and with no Republican on the ballot, the winner earns the seat.

At least two candidates, Pasch and Coby, will attend a Grassroots Shorewood forum Monday night at 6 in the 's public room, 3920 N. Murray Ave.

The Gleasons will bring their fusion of Celtic, Irish, pop and other styles of music to , 3565 N. Morris Blvd., Wednesday night at 6.

The group is the sixth act in , which features local bands every Wednesday until Aug. 29. The series includes free performances from jazz to blues, Irish to country, and every musical style in-between.

Assorted food and beverages will be sold; no carry-in alcohol is allowed.

Governmental meetings — The village's Police Commission will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the , 3936 N. Murray Ave., to interview candidates for sergeant within the department and consider approval of a new sergeant.

The village's Community Development Authority will convene Friday morning at 7:30 in , 3930 N. Murray Ave., to take up discussion of a new Neighborhood Improvement Loan Program, consider a new Facade Improvement Program for multifamily properties and discuss the among other agenda items.

The CDA is also scheduled to go into closed session to discuss possible redevelopment options for the 4085 to 99 block of North Oakland Avenue.

School finance meeting — An Adhoc Finance Committee will meet to discuss financing options for a project looking at possible energy efficiencies in the school district's facilities. The committee is also slated to provide an update on .

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the administration building conference room at , 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
