Shorewood Kicks Off Summer with Men's Club BBQ on Saturday

New this year, organizers will offer rib dinners. The grill will fire up for the Shorewood tradition in Atwater Park at 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Join your neighbors for fun at a Shorewood summer tradition: the 42nd annual Shorewood Men’s Club Chicken BBQ.

The grill fires up in , intersection of North Lake Drive and East Capitol Drive, at 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The event will offer live music, drinks, deserts and of course barbecue chicken dinners. Shorewood Police Chief and Men's Club member David Banaszynski said the club has purchased some 2,000 half chicken dinners for this year's event.

"It traditionally marks the beginning of the beach season, and it's just a fun time with neighbors," he said.

New this year, organizers will be offering rib dinners on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Banaszynski said the club is trying it out this year and purchased a limited amount to see how the community responds.

Dinner tickets can be purchased in advance from Shorewood Men’s Club members at a discounted rate.

The BBQ serves as the club’s largest fundraising event of the year. The club sponsors and makes donations to different organization in Shorewood throughout the year.
