New , co-funded by FAB and the Shorewood Foundation, is installed and ready to go on the beach.

This year's beach party builds on the successes of earlier bashes, which has raised more than $30,000 for upgrades to the beach, according to FAB. The group is also offering purchase of naming rights for boards for the boardwalk and playground or structures, at the party.

“Our previous beach parties in 2008-2010 were not only a strong success in terms of funds raised for the beach, but a wonderful way to bring people in the community together to enjoy a summer day at one of Milwaukee’s most beautiful and unique recreation areas,” Jay Urban, co-founder of FAB, said in a statement Friday. “The beach party celebrates this wonderful natural resource, and provides a way for people to support FAB’s mission of restoring Atwater Beach to once again make it a primary destination for local residents.”

Funds raised at the party will support the continued rehabilitation of the beach, a shade structure in progress, and a continuation of the boardwalk, the group says.
