THE WEEK AHEAD

Conference play in girls soccer is coming to a close. but Brookfield Central has clinched the Greater Metro Conference title. Brookfield East is tied for second with Tosa East and the Spartans have not allowed a goal in five conference games (3-0-2), according to WisSports.net.

Nicolet and Whitefish Bay both have fallen off the pace in the equally competitive North Shore Conference, but they will join Divine Savior Holy Angels as the favorites to come out of Sectional 8. They escaped the absurdly difficult Sectional 7, which includes seven teams that have been ranked in the top 10 this season, plus Arrowhead, Hamilton and Tosa East.

In softball, Menomonee Falls pushed its winning streak to 12 games and now is ranked No. 10 in the state. The Indians have one conference game left, today against Brookfield Central, a team they routed 12-1 last week. Regional play begins Tuesday; Menomonee Falls and conference rival West Allis Hale, ranked No. 12, are in the same regional.
