Shorewood Semi-pro Football Team Offering Free Admission for Military Vets at Next Game

The Shorewood Monarchs, a member of the 10-team Ironman Football League, is free admission to active-duty and military veterans at their next match against the Elgin Eagles, 6 p.m. Saturday at the high school.

It's not unusual to shell out hundreds for tickets to a NFL game β€” in the dead of winter, in the snow, and freezing temperatures associated with Lambeau Field β€” no less.

How about a football game in the sun-kissed warmth of summer β€” for free?

The Shorewood Monarchs are a member of the 10-team Ironman Football League, a semi-pro adult tackle football league. Some players participated in college at the Division I level, others had no football experience at all before joining the league. More common are those who played only in high school, or then at a small college.
