New Volleyball Coach Hired at Shorewood High School

The All-American volleyball player has more than 10 years of coaching experience.

Shorewood High School has named Jake Nowak as the new head coach of the boys volleyball team.

Nowak is a former Division I player who competed for Quincy University. In 2001, he was named the Classic 8 Player of the Year as well as the Wisconsin State Player of the Year. He was also named an All American in 1999 and 2001. 

In addition to his extensive history as a volleyball player, Nowak also has more than 10 years of coaching experience at the elementary, high school, club and collegiate levels. He previously served as the assistant coach for the men and women’s volleyball teams at Cardinal Stritch University. He also coached at Whitefish Bay High School.

“Jake’s vast volleyball knowledge and success as a player and coach will be a major asset to our program,” Shorewood Athletic Director LeVar Ridgeway said. “I look forward to working with him and continuing our strong tradition of boys volleyball at SHS.”

Besides taking on the role of head coach at SHS, Nowak will remain the current Co-Director of the North Shore Milwaukee Volleyball Club and will continue to coach the club’s 18-year-old team.

Nowak replaces Kevin Gemignani, who resigned from the coaching position after 17 years to spend more time with his family.
