Messwood's Jonathan Carson Garners Offer from Division 1 School

Messmer/Shorewood's top receiving threat, racking up nearly 750 receiving yards last season, has reportedly received his first offer to play college football with Central Michigan University.

Messmer/Shorewood's top receiving threat, Jonathan Carson, has received his first offer to play college football from Central Michigan University. 

The Messwood tight end/defensive end caught 27 passes, 8 for touchdowns, and collected 734 yards last season, according to Wissports.net. He was a leader on offense, helping Messwood go 7-1 during the regular season, before running into Whitefish Bay in the first round of WIAA playoffs. 

Carson, a Messmer junior who also plays basketball, is also garnering interest from Big Ten schools including Wisconsin and Michigan State, as well as other universities like Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Harvard and South Dakota State, Wissports.net reports.

He told Rivals.com while most schools are recruiting him as a tight end, playing defensive end at the next level isn't out of the question. Carson grabbed 34 tackles last season, and had one forced fumble and one recovery for a defensive touchdown. 

Central Michigan is a Division I-A school playing in the Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas went 7-6 overall, capping off the season with a win in the Little Caesars Bowl.
