Messwood Clinches Playoff Spot

The Messmer/Shorewood co-op football team clinched a spot in the postseason with a 42-6 win in the homecoming game against Brookfield Academy.

This year, there's no question. Messwood is playoff-bound.

The Messmer/Shorewood co-op football team clinched a spot in the postseason with a 42-6 win in the homecoming game against Brookfield Academy.

The team had to go to court last year to spark a playoff berth.

With Friday's win, the team improved to 6-1 (4-1).

Quarterback Taylor Dennis led all passers with 164 yards and one touchdown. Dennis also rushed for a touchdown.

Running back Donovan Freeman was Messwood's leading rusher with 183 yards and two touchdowns. Alec Grimmer, also at running back, rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns for Messwood.

Tight end Jonathon Carson caught four passes for 110 yards and one touchdown.

The co-op will wrap up the regular season Oct. 12 with a home game against Living Word Lutheran.
