Greyhound Roundup: Softball Team Wins Season Opener

Spring sports season kicks off this week with Shorewood tennis, track and field and girls soccer.

Here is a roundup of Shorewood High School sports courtesy of Athletic Director Bill Haury.

Softball — After three cancelled games due to weather and field conditions, the varsity girl’s open the 2013 spring season with a non-conference victory over Heritage Christian, 19-10.  After the first inning, the Greyhounds held a slim 3-2 lead.  It was the second inning, where the team batted through the order to take an 11-3 lead that they held behind the pitching of Cindy Schuelke who recorded the win.  Celeste Carroll pitched two innings of relief.

  • Boy’s track and field @ Brookfield East Invitational 

Wednesday — Softball @ Cudahy, 4:15 p.m.

  • Girl’s track and field @ Brookfield East Invitational, 4 p.m.
  • Boy’s track and field/Woodland Conference Indoor, 4 p.m.

Thursday — Girl’s track and field/Woodland Conference Indoor New Berlin West, 4 p.m.

  • Girl’s soccer vs South Milwaukee, 4:30/6:30 p.m.

Friday — Softball vs. Pewaukee, 4:15 p.m.

Saturday — Softball hosts Eastside Cup Tournament

  • 9 a.m. Martin Luther vs. Milwaukee Vincent, Saint Francis vs. Milwaukee Hamilton
  • 11 a.m. Shorewood vs. Milwaukee Vincent, Milwaukee Hamilton vs. DSHA
  • 1 p.m. Shorewood vs. Martin Luther, DSHA vs. Saint Francis
  • 3 p.m.  Championship game & third place game
