Summer Sounds Concert Series Comes To a Close

Shorewood's spectacular summer concert series ended its 10-week run of free musical entertainment on August 29. The grand finale featured timeless classics and contemporary favorites from the Brew City Big Band, who continued its performance well after dark in front of a captive audience at Hubbard Park.

The series was a huge success, according to Mike O'Brien, chairperson of the Shorewood Marketing Program, responsible for producing the free concert series. "Because of increased sponsorships, we were able to expand the series to 10 events this year," explains O'Brien. "And we attracted folks from all over the Milwaukee area to listen to a variety of musical styles and flavors from some of the best bands in the area."

Presenting sponsors of the "Summer Sounds" series were PNC Bank and Hubbard Park Lodge. Master sponsors were Barefoot Wine, the Shorewood Foundation and the Shorewood Men's Club. Culver's of Shorewood also was an event underwriter.

"Summer Sounds" is one of the special community events produced by Shorewood's Marketing Program to promote all the great reasons we love living in the Village. The Marketing Program also produced this year's "I Love Shorewood" public art event. In addition, the Marketing Program hosts a lifestyle website, shorewoodtoday.com and uses a variety of other marketing vehicles including online and print advertising and videos to promote the Village, Schools and Business District.
