'I Love Shorewood' Public Art Event Puts Spotlight on Community

"I Love Shorewood" public art event is highlight of the summer season in Shorewood. Public art events create a synergy among residents, businesses, community groups and artists.

This summer, Shorewood's public art event will engage the entire community with 35 custom-decorated, super-size heart forms on display throughout the village.

Appropriately titled "I Love Shorewood," watch for the launch of this exciting event the week of June 25 when our collection of colorful and imaginative hearts will send a welcoming message to visit, explore, shop and dine in our great Village.

Residents and guests can pick up an event program at any of the participating sponsor locations, at , 3930 N. Murray Ave., or the , 3920 N. Murray Ave. Take a walking or biking tour of the village and make sure you check out all 35 hearts. Be sure to also pick up a free "I Love Shorewood" pin and wear it with pride. New this year is a free drawing to enter to win a specially selected heart form (no purchase necessary). Sign up at any participating sponsor location (18 years or older, one entry per person).

"I Love Shorewood" is being presented by the Village of Shorewood Marketing Program. Various businesses and community groups are sponsoring the display of a heart at their location — and there will also be hearts at Village Hall, the Shorewood Library, the Police Department and the Shorewood Fitness Center.

Major co-sponsors of the event are the Shorewood Foundation and the Mandel Group Inc. Plus, additional funding is being provided by the Shorewood Men's Club. Event logistics are being managed through the Shorewood DPW, event photography is being provided by John O'Hara and Shorewood.Patch.com is the online sponsor.

Shorewood's creative collection of hearts will be on display through Sept. 1. They will then be auctioned off on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m at Hubbard Park Lodge during a public auction. All proceeds from the sale of the hearts will benefit the Shorewood Foundation, a charitable, non-profit group that has been enhancing the character and quaiity of life in our village since 1964. 

Vote for your favorite heart in a special online contest that will be posted on Shorewood.Patch.com as soon as the event launches at the end of June. You will also be able to bid on a heart prior to the auction at shorewoodtoday.com. Get ready to fall in love with Shorewood all over again this summer with "I Love Shorewood."
