After nearly a decade at the helm in the Shorewood School District, Superintendent Blane McCann announced Jan. 9, he would retire at the end of the school year. 

When the story broke, McCann told Patch he felt it was a good time to move forward, but he will miss the many wonderful people he has worked with over the nine years he has served as superintendent here.
