Find A Bargain at Lake Bluff Rummage

Lake Bluff PTO's annual sale is April 19 and 20, with children's clothing, books and movies available, and proceeds going back into the school.

Lake Bluff Elementary’s annual rummage sale, chock full of kids' items and other wares is slated for April 19 and 20.

Up for grabs this year are bicycles, strollers, a trailer, musical instruments, ride-on toys, slides, playhouse, games, lots of books, stuffed animals, costumes, sports equipment, and tons of children's clothing, sale organizer Cliona Draper said.

Lake Bluff and Atwater Elementary families get first stab at the rummage on Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. and the sale opens to the general public on Saturday 9 a.m. to noon, in the Lake Bluff cafeteria, 1600 E. Lake Bluff Blvd.

The best stuff will likely go early, but customers who stick around until 11 a.m. are rewarded — $3 for anything you can fit into a grocery bag.

Draper said the Lake Bluff Parent Teacher Organization fundraiser brings in about $3,000 to $4,000, which the organization distributes to the school as needed.

Past sales have earned more than $25,000 for the Lake Bluff PTO.

This year, organizers are teaming up with the Valid Bike Shop for a bike drive. Housed in North Division High School, Valid teaches children to repair bicycles, then donates them to students to ride to school. Click the video above to learn more about the bike shop.

Residents can bring in bicycles to donate to Valid, during the rummage.

Items that aren’t sold at the rummage sale are passed along to local charities.
