SHS Principal Matt Joynt Leaving for Mequon

After five years in Shorewood, Joynt will now become the assistant superintendent of educational services in the Mequon-Theinsville School District.

Shorewood High School Principal Matt Joynt has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the Mequon-Theinsville School District and will be leaving SHS effective July 19.

Joynt previously served as an elementary school teacher and high school vice principal in Mequon before coming to Shorewood five years ago.

“Shorewood High School is a remarkable place,” Joynt said. “I greatly appreciate having worked here as the principal for the past five years, and my experience with this community has been deeply rewarding.”

Joynt also added that his time in Shorewood helped him to mature professionally while gaining valuable experience that will benefit him in the future.

“Matt has proven to be a strong, positive leader during his time at SHS,” Shorewood Superintendent Dr. Marty Lexmond said. “Our district will miss him greatly, but we are confident that we can hire a new SHS principal who will continue the legacy of Shorewood’s success for years to come.”

Lexmond said the district will use a collaborative community interview process to find Joynt’s replacement, which will likely include several input sessions with students, staff, community members and parents. Until a replacement is found, Mark Harris, who previously served as the assistant principal at SHS and was just recommended for the Shorewood Intermediate School principal position, will supervise both SIS and SHS.

The district anticipates hiring a candidate before the start of the 2013-2014 school year on September 3. During the coming weeks, information and updates about the hiring process will be sent to Shorewood families and posted on the district blog.
