Watch a Documentary About Mindfulness Meditation

Shorewood schools will host a free screening of "Room to Breathe" Wednesday night in the SHS auditorium.

The Shorewood School District, as well as the Lake Bluff PTO, will be hosting the screening of the award-winning documentary “Room to Breathe” on Wednesday, October 2 at 6:45 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium.

The film tells the story of the transformation struggling kids in a San Francisco public middle school go through after they are introduced to the practice of mindfulness meditation.

The film, which took home the Social Impact Award at the Richmond International Film Festival, follows four students who are struggling inside and outside of the classroom as they are exposed to the transformational practice of mindfulness meditation. Running time for the film is 55 minutes.

Shorewood began implementing mindfulness as part of a pilot program at Lake Bluff elementary last school year. This school year, the practice has been expanded to all classrooms at Lake Bluff, and the District will review the school’s experience with mindfulness as it considers expanding it to Atwater in the future as well.
