Shorewood's Local Elections Take Shape as Filing Deadline Passes

Two candidates file papers to run for School Board; three Village Board incumbents to seek re-election.

Two Shorewood School Board candidates, three Village Board incumbants and the incumbant municipal judge have file their candidancy paperwork as of Monday afternoon's deadline to turn in paperwork for April's election. 

David Cobb, 4516 N. Newhall St., and David Gess, 2012 E. Menlo Blvd., have filed papers to run for one seat on the Shorewood School Board.  

Neither have run for School Board in the past.

School Board President Paul Zovic filed .  

The open seat on the board is a three-year term that pays an annual salary of $1,000. The president is paid $1,300 a year.

On the Village Board side, Village President Guy Johnson, along with incumbent trustees Jeff Hanewall and Thad Nation have all filed papers seeking re-election.  

The trustee post is a three-year term with a $1,000 annual salary and village president seat earns $1,300 yearly.

Donal Demet has filed papers to run again for the Shorewood municipal judge post. The judge post is a three-year term with a $5,000 annual salary.

If more than two people file for any post, then a primary would be held Feb. 21. The general election is April 3.
