Kleban Named Adolescent Inpatient Medical Director at Rogers-Milwaukee

Rogers Memorial Hospital has promoted Matthew Kleban, M.D., to medical director of the adolescent inpatient unit at Rogers’ Milwaukee (West Allis) location. In his new role, Dr. Kleban works with patients, oversees physician and clinical staff performance, as well as facilitates integration with other programs (partial/intensive outpatient/residential) to provide seamless care.

“My goal is to sustain and enhance Rogers’ reputation for excellence,” Dr. Kleban said. “I want to make the experience as optimal as possible for patients and their families in their time of most acute need.”

Board certified in psychiatry as well as child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Kleban first joined Rogers’ psychiatric team in Milwaukee last May, where he has been working with children and adolescents in the inpatient unit and day treatment program. Prior to that, Dr. Kleban served as a staff psychiatrist in New York, working primarily with children and adolescents in positions with the New York City Children’s Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center. He also served as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Services at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y.

Kambiz Pahlavan, M.D., medical director of Rogers Memorial Hospital-Milwaukee, has worked closely with Dr. Kleban and commented on the promotion: “Dr. Kleban came to us with 10 years of experience in teaching, leadership and treating children and adolescents in inpatient, partial hospital and outpatient settings. I personally enjoy working with this bright, well-educated, humble gentleman, and I am excited about his accepting this new position. We look forward to his leadership in helping us to develop our new inpatient programs and improve our teaching and clinical capabilities.”

A member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Kleban received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y., followed by an internship in medicine at Westchester Medical Center. He completed his residency in psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Kleban’s primary clinical interests include mood disorders and trauma.
