Shorewood takes up concealed carry in village-owned buildings

Shorewood officials will consider amending village ordinance in response to the new concealed weapons carry law, which goes into effect Nov. 1. As part of the ordinance, weapons would be banned from village-owned buildings including Village Hall and Shorewood Public Library.

Officials are also slated to vote on posting new stop and yield signs in Shorewood. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at , 3930 N. Murray Ave.

Teen's book author to speak at library

Bestselling teenager's book author Catherine Gilbert Murdock will speak about her new fantasy book Wisdom’s Kiss Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the , 3920 N. Murray Ave. A book signing will follow Murdock’s speech.  The Library is holding the event in cooperation with Boswell Books.

The at 6:30 p.m. and the girl’s volleyball squad battles St. Joan Antida Tuesday night at , 1701 E. Capitol Dr. Tickets are $4.

The Messmer/Shorewood combined team’s season hinges on a judge’s ruling Monday. because in 2007 the team swapped conferences, and under WIAA rules, teams aren’t eligible for the playoffs for four years after a conference change.

Messwood will find out Monday the fate of its season.
