It’s the season from neighborly love

It’s that time of year again. Time to prepare your yard for the harsh winter months — winterize it if you will. But the practice might be more difficult for some homeowners and renters than other.

Shorewood Connects is addressing the issue by linking volunteers with older adults and the disabled to ease the burden of those autumn leaves, out-of-control hedges, full garden beds and tangled water hoses.

The 4th annual Yard Clean-Up Day is Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and organizers are looking for volunteers this year more than ever.

More than 100 volunteers came out last year in support of their neighbors, but organizers hope that number reaches 150, to meet the increasing demand for help.

If you’d like to volunteer or need help winterizing your yard, call Sue Kelley at 961-7262 or email at skelley@wi.rr.com
