Village Board to Appoint a New Trustee Following Don Ford's Resignation

The board will accept applications until July 10, and plans to interview candidates and chose a new trustee on July 24.

The Village Board plans to appoint a new trustee, after Don Ford resigned earlier this month, leaving his seat vacant.

Trustees Tammy Bockhorst, Michael Maher and Thad Nation volunteered to head up an Ad-Hoc Committee to look at what options the board would like to pursue, and outline guidelines for the chosen process. The trustees recommended Monday night appointing a new member.

The board approved utilizing a process used in recent years in which they solicited applications for the trustee seat, interviewed prospective trustee candidates, selected three candidates for further consideration and then held another vote to pick the new trustee.

In lieu of appointing a new trustee, the board could have either left the seat vacant until next spring’s election or held a special election in the fall. The board also could have also chose to fill the position now and hold a special election in November.

Ford relocated to the Minneapolis–Saint Paul, MN area due to a change in his wife’s career.
