Shorewood Teaches a Real World Economics Lesson

At least one other Milwaukee-area community has taken notice of Shorewood's recent business growth – and they want to follow in its footsteps.

Franklin NOW reports that the City of Franklin's Plan Commission met Shorewood leaders at the Alterra on Oakland Avenue last week. After meeting at the coffee shop, Shorewood Village President Guy Johnson and CDA Chairman Pete Petrie led the commissioners on a tour around Oakland Avenue, offering lessons along the way about tax incremental finance districts.

Although Franklin is much different from Shorewood, the South Shore suburb is looking at expanding its TIF districts and its business growth, according to Franklin NOW.
