Shorewood Snapshot: Governmental Meetings; Preps Sports
A look at this week's local events and news.
Here's a look at what's coming up this week in Shorewood. If we're missing something, please add it to the calendar.
School and governmental meetings — Shorewood’s School Board and Village Board will hold a joint meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. and take up several items including the school district’s budget, marketing the village and the superintendent search.
On Tuesday, a new board vice president will be chosen and school calendar set for next year when the School Board meets for a regular meeting on Tuesday night at 7.

Both meetings are held in the Library, 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
Also on Tuesday, a neighborhood sewer meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Officials are expected to discuss projects set for this summer. The meeting is in the , 3920 N. Murray Ave. (lower level of the library).

And, the village’s Design Review Board will meet at Village Hall, 3930 N. Murray Ave., at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Preps sports — The Shorewood High School softball team hosts matches against Pewaukee and South Milwaukee on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. Those games start at 4:15 p.m. They also have an away game against Cudahy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Shorewood's girls soccer team will host Wauwatosa West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and travel to South Milwaukee on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. match.
The high school boys tennis team has two homes games this week including matches against Saint Francis on Tuesday and Cudahy on Thursday. Both games starts at 4 p.m.
And, the Shorewood golf team will participate in mini-meets at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Oakwood Golf Course and Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Brown Deer Golf Course.
All home games are played at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr.
— The Waxwing will offer live music Wednesday night. Chicago singer/songwriter Heather Styka will strum an acoustic set at 7 p.m. in the art boutique at 4415 N. Oakland Ave. Styka is also one of The Waxwing's 70 local artists.
Tickets are available in-store and online in advance for $5 ($7 at the door on the evening of the concert).
Atwater Idol — will put on its yearly twist of "American Idol," Wednesday night when they showcase students’ skills in a talent show. The event starts at 7 at the school located at 2100 E. Capitol Dr.
Saturday is prom — Shorewood High School seniors will come dressed in their best formal attire for this year’s prom. Contact the school district for more information.

However, even though I spend most of my work days sipping coffee and fraternizing with the locals at Alterra or Stone Creek, I felt it was time to make myself available in person on a regular basis.
So, from 5 to 7 p.m. every Thursday I will be holding "office hours" in one of the study rooms at the , 3920 N. Murray Ave. If the room is full we will definitely find a place to chat.
