Shorewood Hires New Finance Director

Mark Emanuelson has several years of local government and non-profit accounting experience.

A new finance director is coming to Shorewood Village Hall.

Village officials announced today that Mark Emanuelson will take over as the village's finance director on Sept. 20. Emanuelson is a life-long Milwaukee resident who currently works for Mequon as the assistant director of finance.

The village's previous finance director, Stephanie Walker, resigned in May to become the chief financial officer for the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

In Mequon, Emanuelson is responsible for a wide array of duties from assisting in the annual budgeting process, capital planning and annual reporting to managing the payroll process and utility billing activities. In 2012, he also earned the designation of Certified Public Finance Officer by the Government Finance Officers Association.

Prior to his position at Mequon, Emanuelson worked for 10 years in the finance department at the St. Charles Youth and Family Services, a non-profit organization based in Milwaukee. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received his MBA from UWM in 2005.
