Shorewood Conservation Fair Slated for Saturday

Grab those shredding materials, batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, corks, old tennis shoes and head to Atwater Elementary to dispose of them the right way.

It's spring cleaning season, but what do you do with all those unwanted items now deemed trash?

Bring your "treasures" to Shorewood's Conservation Fair, Saturday at Atwater Elementary School from 8 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers are collecting shredding materials, batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, corks, old tennis shoes to name a few. Goodwill will collect reusable household items. New this year, Action Metals will collect metal items. The village will receive a percentage of the profits.

In addition, the Conservation Committee will have information on local conservation issues. If you belong to a group that might be interested in having a table, please contact Lisa Noble at macnoble@sbcglobal.net.

The village cannot accept hazardous materials at the fair nor can you place it in with your regular refuse/recycling collection. MMSD operates several permanent collection sites and a one-day mobile collection, on July 21, at the Shorewood High School. For more information, please visit MMSD's website.
