MKE County Courthouse Closed Monday, Tuesday following Weekend Fire

The fire on Saturday caused more than $500,000 in damage and forced emergency dispatchers to move to Waukesha County to take 911 calls.

Milwaukee County courts are closed and jury duty postponed Monday and Tuesday after a fire in the courthouse over the weekend.

The fire caused some electrical and smoke damage, and the courthouse will remain closed as county staff work with the Milwaukee Fire Department and We Energies to assess the damage and perform repairs and clean up, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele’s office said.

The Milwaukee Criminal Justice Facility and the jail remain open.
