Michael Reagan Says 'Win One for the Gipper' in New Pro-Walker Ad

Tea party group's latest ad features son of Ronald Reagan comparing Gov. Scott Walker to conservative icon.

With a little more than a week to go until , a national tea party group on Monday released a TV ad in which the son of President Ronald Reagan invokes the memory of his father while giving his strong support to Gov. Scott Walker.

In the ad, paid for by the Campaign To Defeat Barack Obama, Michael Reagan, a conservative commentator, compares Wisconsin's Republican governor to his father and even uses the phrase: "Win this one for the Gipper."

"We need leaders like Scott Walker," Reagan says in the ad. "He's a reminder of somebody named Reagan from a long time ago.

"Scott Walker, because of what he's doing, has turned a negative into a positive — bringing businesses back into Wisconsin (and) getting people back into Wisconsin," Regan adds. "Why in the world would the people in Wisconsin want to go back to those days of yesteryear — when the budget was out of control, jobs were not available — is beyond me."

The ad then includes some testimonials from Walker supporters from around Wisconsin and wraps up with Reagan saying: "Win this one for the Gipper," a line that Ronald Reagan used in the film "Knute Rockne: All American" and later throughout his presidency.

The ad is just the latest example of how national tea party organizations have been lining up to show their support of Walker, who is facing Democrat Tom Barrett in the June 5 recall election.

The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama has been sending fundraising emails out all over the country, usually linking the Wisconsin recall election to Obama's re-election campaign.

And last week, the national , who is being challenged by Democrat Mahlon Mitchell in the recall election.

The Tea Party Express also will bring its "Reclaiming Our Future" bus tour to Wisconsin from Friday until Election Day. The tour in support of Walker, Kleefisch and the four Republican senators also being targeted for recall, will make stops as far north as Rhinelander and as far south as Racine.

In January, Wisconsin Grandsons of Liberty and We The People of the Republic recruited nearly 10,000 volunteers to .

One more pompous, egotistical liberal to add to the list. Did you notice that you didn't have one fact in your entire argument? Why do libs bring up Christianity when the people who donate more time, money, and resources is conservatives? Fact distortions? How about showing a fact that is being distorted? I believe that is called mud-slinging. Your arguments are weak and baseless. Did you notice that a democrat from Alablama just renounced the democratic party because he said they have strayed to far off their path?
Patriot May 31, 2012 at 03:41 pm
This is what all those egotistical liberals are buying into!! We stood up in 1776 and Ameican will stand up again. Freedom is everything and under your ideology Tosa, Randy we have NO freedoms!! We have the Government telling us whats best. Wont happen. Again click on the link and read what they stand for

Nick:
You make the claim that the right is guilty of using 'fear based' tactics. Perhaps you need to take a look in the mirror and the stuff that the anti-Walker crowd has been posting. You really don't see how making a statement that indicates that Walker is 'out to destroy the democratic republic' isn't fear based rhetoric? The overblown statements about 'republicans promoting environmental damage' seem to be fear based as well. Even though you didn't mention them above, I would also consider the claims about Walker's "draconian" cuts to education, the doubling of class sizes, and the mass teacher layoffs to be fear mongering as well. Ever since Walker's BRB was proposed, we have been hearing the doomsayers on the left promising us doubling of class sizes, mass teacher layoffs, etc.

Yet when Barrett was cornered and asked by a reporter yesterday if he could name a school district that has been hit by Gov Walkers Act 10 his response Quote " Well we can run an analysis and we will get back to you" What is that? The opponent in the Govs race and he can not even give facts to his rhetoric. Again all the ads and rhetoric that we have been bombarded with are just that fear mongering, mud slinging rhetoric

Ima Hippee, if you carefully read the posts, no one is making fun of Alzheimer's patients. Only you seem to be trying to link Alzheimer's with "fun" or "bullying."
Relatives who lived in the D.C. area during the Reagan era shared a number of the political (and other) rumors that continuously sweep through our nation's capitol. If they are to be believed, Reagan's Alzheimer symptoms were present from almost the beginning of his first term. Out of an 8-hour work day, Reagan "worked" about 5. He typically took a three-hour nap in the afternoon. His wife Nancy (former actress who majored in English and drama at Smith) apparently made quite a few political and hiring decisions because of her husband's growing infirmity (and which was resented by a number of WH staff). As governor of California I believe Reagan proposed what's been described as the largest tax hike proposed by any governor in U.S. history (c. 1967). He raised the top income rate. He raised sales tax. Cigarette tax. Alcohol tax. Bank/corporate tax rate. Inheritance tax rate. He inherited a deficit from his predecessor and realized that program cuts alone weren't going to fix the problem. So why the about-face? I would surmise that due to his illness, Reagan relied on his wife (who used an astrologer), and appointees. How many of the decisions made were his, and how many were theirs?

Patriot: I find your use of the word "sweetie" amusing. We both know-as does everyone else on this forum-you meant to demean me personally&debase my commentary, however your obvious attack serves only to expose you as an old chauvinist. For a male stranger to call an unknown female "sweetie" or any other term of endearment implies a judgement of incompetence on the part of the target. Know this: your "not-so-sly" little snipe causes as little personal injury to me as Rush Limbaugh's comments to strong, independent women. It serves to demonstrate that you cannot debate intelligently, civilly or rationally. Note: I have no problem refraining from calling you "sonny", "hunny", "big guy" or "macho-man".
Now - more importantly re: your comment about Kissinger: Why would anyone want to align themselves with Kissinger? (see next post)
Patriot May 31, 2012 at 05:16 pm
@Tosa-Again your version of spin. I do not set out to demean anyone on this thread. I merely state the facts and it is your side who generally is first to draw blood with the demeaning comments. Especially your boy Mr Schmitz who likes to refer to most of us on the right as brown shirts.
I have no idea why anyone would align themselves with Kissinger but if you take the time to think for yourself and brush the surface clean you will see that your ideology of big government falls right in line with the very desires those people have for you. Like I stated earlier the Bilderberg group is meeting right now discussing their next move.
Tosa720 May 31, 2012 at 05:36 pm
@Patriot: Re: Kissinger: He should have been convicted of war crimes yrs ago, but was given a "pass". He is known for a multitude of war crimes, crimes against humanity,&offenses against customary intn'l law, including conspiracy to commit murder, kidnap,& torture. There's overwhelming evidence of his complicity in war crimes in Indochina, Bangladesh, Chile, Cyprus, etc..Just because he was allowed to hold office under Nixon (a crook) &Ford (a sold out wimp) doesnt grant him credence.Right wing extremists can persist in overlooking the egregious impunity enjoyed by this notorious war criminal,OR they can rise to the EXALTED standards to which they continually try to hold everyone else. These tea party types are a contradiction in &of themselves - the vast majority of proclaimed members are uneducated, emotional extremists that continuously prescribe to rhetoric that defies logic &all decency while at the same time purporting to embrace Christianity. Nothing but pure hypocrisy. It is not liberals who are egotistical or controlling. No freedoms under liberals? controlling women's reproductive organs, right to contraception, right to fair pay or citizens right to vote, right to education , right to marry regardless of sexual orientation, etc. Control is proposed by right wing extremists in office now.TPeople who are hypocrtical about christianity and Jesus's teachings. We are not attempting to take away rights - we are the ones trying to protect ours and the rest of humanity's.
Patriot May 31, 2012 at 06:03 pm
@Tosa? You really believe all the crap you just wrote? So your now saying that unless you follow the liberal ideology and are not educated your nothing? Because that is just what you said. So please explain to me how you or anyone else being highly educated has anything to do with my freedoms? NONE!! Your ideology of big Government does not equal freedom!! Your also saying that we are not Christians? The right to collectivelly bargain IS NOT A RIGHT but rather a privilege!!
Question for you? So lets take the Omish for example. Im guessing your feelings about them are pretty much the same!! They are very real people who do not adopt the ideologys of the left or the right!! They believe in hard work, helping thy neighbor and the difference there is not helping thy neighbor who takes advantage of the help he/she recieves. Tosa the majority of the Tea Party movement are real people. Your every day father, wife, husband. Real people with values and morals, hard working people. Its funny how you all on the left feel that a 120 dollar college education puts you above those who maybe did not attend college or limited college. Hmmmmmmm sounds like you have placed yourself above the rest? Logic differs from common sense!! Again because you or anyone else has had 6 years, 8 years or more of college does not make them smarter or better than someone with say 2 years or less when it comes to our basic rights
Patriot May 31, 2012 at 06:05 pm
@Tosa-your writings are nothing but egotistical!!!
Patriot May 31, 2012 at 06:07 pm

@Tosa-After next Tuesday when Gov Walker retains his position your side can take a step back from all the rhetoric and negative spin that it has tried to enstill on the people? Take a step back and look at the facts!!! Actually see the reforms are working. The reduction in property taxes to property owners in this State, school districts prospering under act 10, the State moving in a positive direction finally after more than 8 years maybe even 12 years. Depending on the economy as a whole I believe you will see the jobs situation explode!! And at the end of Gov Walkers reforms if he has not satisfied the majority once again then there will be a change but my feeling is once all this BS calms down we will see all the positives from Gov Walker. So much he will be re-elected for a 2nd term.

I am not placing myself above anyone else, nor trying to degrade anyone. I am citing known facts re:extremists of the right wing. You twist my remarks. I dont follow anyone's ideology. Re: un-educated, I meant in terms of researching issues &being able to debate civilly& fairly without calling names or insults. When I talked about Christanity vs the kind of thinking that accepts these GOP bills that micro manage people's private lives & - in many cases force hardship upon them - then I see athe disparity between Christianity - the claims of loving Jesus, and the Ayn Rand attitude that everyone should fend for themselves, no matter what disability they have or how sick they become, or if they were abandoned, raped, faced severe misfortune, whatever.
Jesus said "If you do this to the least of my brethren, etc." Well, after much observation, I feel the right is "sticking it" to the least of our brethren. End of story - you can keep up your rant on this if you like, but I am sticking up for my personal decisions regarding this crop of legislators & their intentions. I am not egotistical as you have proclaimed, nor callous as you suggest. I am 70, &throughout my life (whether public or private sector) have been in service to others. I worked as a waitress, then later in community orgs & as director of a mid size soc serv agency to being supervisor & mgr in a very large corp. Throughout , I have stayed true to my commitment to be of service wherever. End of my rant.Toodles!

You have just proven that you are a complete liberal troll. How about some facts? Wait, that doesn't fit the liberal playbook. I will bring this up again; conservatives dontate more of their time, money, blood (not a misprint), resources etc. So how about liberals start actually living what they preach. Why is it that you want the govt to force people to pay more taxes? Guilty over the fact that you know you won't dontate anything to the causes you claim are so important? Conservatives only ask that people who are mooching from the system get back to work. I can tell from your post and job experience that you probably believe every sob story that comes before you. This is why we can't have people like you in office. You need people with common sense who can see a thief for what they are.
Tosa720 May 31, 2012 at 09:17 pm
I agave facts on this forum many times. I don't have to give facts since I am expressing an opinion and responding to attacks. I do not believe every sob story and have turned many away from receiving benefits they were not entitled to like the fat cat from Mequaon who tried to get stomach stapling on the taxpayers dime while owning a huge moving company and living in a million dollar home. You have made some very ignorant assumptions including that those who need help are moochers and thieves. That is pathetic. Further: You know nothing about me other than what I have revealed. So, here is an FYI - I donate quite a bit to many causes - more than most, and I know that I have nothing to feel guilty about. I am sorry that so many conservatives are so very angry - they have congress and most of the governors - so why are you all so mad? Could it possibly be because you cannot control others' opinions as well as their lives?

Patriot May 31, 2012 at 09:25 pm
@Tosa-Honestly it has nothing to do with that. See the problem is we voted Gov Walker into office and we are very satisfied with his performance thus far. But for a small group of individuals to disagree and then decide to re-call based on that alone is wrong period. Basically saying our vote did not count nor matter. Again completely wrong as you cannot argue the facts, that Walkers reforms are working. As a tax payer where is my voice in saying enough!! Well Gov Walker is that voice. The Fab 14 and those who have beaten their drums stole my vote. That is not democratic at all!!
Chadwick May 31, 2012 at 09:26 pm
Anger? What anger? Please don't misquote me. I know you like to pick and choose what you listen to but I don't like people misquoting me. There are people who steal from the govt. This is a fact. These people need to get off the govt dime. Of course there are people that need to get help. The point is to provide for those that REQUIRE NEED and not put people on the govt dole to get votes like libs do.
Bren May 31, 2012 at 09:33 pm
As I've written before, there are many areas where experience and intelligence can compensate for a formal education, but there are some that require specific expertise--accounting, dentistry, law, medical, veterinary surgery, etc. I don't think a law degree is required to be a modern-day political office holder, but I believe it's a tremendous boon. Likewise economics.

Patriot, what the Colonials "stood up" to in 1776 (and several decades prior) is precisely what the radical right fringe want to regress us. Rigid authoritarianism. Women and nonwhites as chattel. Indentured servitude and slavery. Society has evolved since then and that's a good thing.
Concerning "we have no freedoms," anarchy doesn't promote productive or long life. What those who have forgotten their U.S. history believe to be "Government telling us what's best" is actually democracy in action, involving legislative processes that has taken place over generations, in some cases. The former USSR, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; China, the Third Reich; these represent socialism. If the U.S. is to avoid becoming socialist, it needs to send the Tea Party/GOP out of the mainstream and back to the far right fringe where it belongs.
Tosa720 June 1, 2012 at 12:18 am
@Chad: No one misquoted you, Matter of fact I never even quoted you. I made an observation that conservatives on this forum sound angry, &I since you have everything wanted with a majority congress I asked why.. Generalities are being made about undeserving people being put on the "dole" by "libs" to get votes. I oversaw claims,& never once saw it..Pls cite your proof/ .Denials? I did many. Yes, some scammers, but blatant "moochers" had big houses, healthy businesses, etc, but didn't want to pay for medical procedures, dental work, etc. When those that have and can afford take advantage of loopholes, that is time to draw the line for sure.
Tosa720 June 1, 2012 at 12:24 am
Now let's talk about career politicians collecting a fat lifelong income & medical benefits at our expense. Most - like Sensenbrenner / Brookfield-have done virtually nothing to improve our country or represent the people of their district , yet continue to get "fat &bloated" off their pay & bennies. They should be brought to task for mooching big time. A study of the welfare showed 2% of were to actually be non-eligible, committing fraud or somehow scamming the system. I would imagine it could be worse than that now, but it is wrong to put everyone receiving benefits of any sort into that category Those in need should not be lumped in with the true scammers. The biggest fraud happening today is tax fraud - and scamming via overuse of loopholes. This abuse far exceeds any amount of welfare abuse that is happening and is mostly done by those who are wealthy.. However, the GOP never talks about that - they just like to demonize the "lowly" welfare recipient - those folks who do not contribute to their campaign coffers.. When are the favors and loopholes and greed enough - what amount of money is enough money? Do they have to make it tougher on those in need in order to give more to those who are not in need & have more than enough? Perhaps they do in order to appease their contributors.. Code words:Divide & conquer-& guess what? It has worked.
