Johnson to Seek Re-Election to Village President Post

Incumbent says he's seeking his third term to continue overseeing key projects in the village.

Shorewood Village President Guy Johnson said Friday he will seek re-election to the Village Board in the spring election.

Johnson, who was elected to the board in 1998 as a trustee, will seek his third term as village president.

With developments sprouting up on North Oakland Avenue and the village set to start executing its plan to repair the sewer system, Johnson said he wants to remain on the board to have a voice in the important issues.

Growing up in Milwaukee, Johnson spent 21 years in Philadelphia working as a sales engineering, sales manager and general manager for machinery manufacturer Harnischfeger Industries before joining UWM.

The general election is set for April 3. If more than two people file to run for village president, then a primary would be held Feb. 21. So far, no other candidates have surfaced for the post.

Voters also will be choosing two village trustees, a municipal judge and one school board member .
