Early, In-Person Absentee Voting Started Monday

For the first time since 1946, partisan primaries, typically held in September, will be held in August. Early voting occurs at Village Hall from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 10.

Early and in-person absentee voting began in Shorewood Monday for partisan primaries.

Early voting takes place at , 3930 N. Murray Ave., from 8 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Aug. 10, the Friday before the primary.

For the first time since 1946, the "Partisan Primary" will be held in August. That change comes with the enacting of Act 75, which relates to the requirements of the Federal M.O.V.E Act ensuring that all military and overseas electors have ample time to receive and return absentee ballots.

In a Partisan Primary each voter is limited to voting for candidates in one political party. The primaries were typically held in September.

Kevin Kennedy, GAB director, said in a statement confusion about crossover voting is one of the biggest issues poll workers face during partisan primaries.
