How Much Did Your Neighbors Give to Obama, Romney?

Search Patch's interactive database to see who in Shorewood is making contributions to President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

While polls show President Barack Obama may have more support from Wisconsin voters than Republican candidate Mitt Romney, there are some indications that the race may be tightening.

A Marquette University poll released recently shows Obama leading Romney, 53 percent to 42 percent, which is down from the 14-point lead Obama held in the same poll in mid-September.

Campaign contributions in Shorewood are in line with what the polls are saying. The current president has garnered nearly $45,000 in contributions from residents through Aug. 31, while Romney received just $2,850.

A total of 77 residents donated to the candidates. However, the overwhelming majority of those who contributed, 74, did so to Obama.

Two residents, Alicia Urban, owner of Elements East in Whitefish Bay, and Peter McAvoy, who works in environmental health at a community health center in Milwaukee, each made two donations for $2,500 to Obama. The highest amount given to Romney $2,500 was from William Nasgovitz; an occupation wasn't available.

The data, which is from the Federal Elections Commission, does not include contributions to political action committees or other outside groups.
