Damaged Electrical Transformer Has Streetlights Out in Northwest Portion of Shorewood

Crews will have to rebuild a power box after it was severely damaged Oct. 28.

Streets in the northwest portion of Shorewood will be in the dark for a while with a transformer cabinet near East Capitol Drive and North Morris Avenue severely damaged.

The box was damaged Oct. 28 and crews are working on rebuilding the transformer. It's unclear how the cabinet was damaged.

The following blocks are affected by the loss of power.

  • Capitol Drive from Oakland Avenue to the west village limits.
  • Morris Boulevard, Woodburn Street and Ardmore Avenue from Capitol Drive to Lawnwood Place.
  • Larkin Street, Newhall Street and Bartlett Avenue from Capitol Drive to Olive Street.
  • Olive Street, Kenmore Place, Elmdale Court and Wood Place between Oakland Avenue and Wilson Drive.

Shorewood Police say they will increase patrols in the area, but ask residents in the area leave their porch and back doorlights on overnight.
