Vandals Arrested for 10 Graffiti Acts

Police were tipped off by an alert resident around 3 a.m. Monday morning.

Two young men were arrested in connection with at least 10 different graffiti incidents early Monday morning.

A citizen reported the graffiti vandalism, and police caught the suspects shortly afterward at 3:20 a.m. in the 3900 block of Prospect Avenue. Both men had paint on their hands and admitted to defacing several bus stops and other structures in the village. They are ordered into the District Attorney’s Office for charging.

In an email blast to residents, Shorewood police thanked the resident who reported the graffiti vandalism, saying police depend on help from residents in order to keep peace and order in the community:

"You know your neighborhood and who is normally in your neighborhood. If you see someone or something that makes you suspicious, report it. If you see something that makes you wonder, report it. The police department would rather check out 100 suspicious calls and find nothing wrong then not be called and have a home broken into or worst."
